I’ve been listening to podcasts for several years now, but since forming Xport in January 2014, my habits have changed. Below are some of the podcasts that have been most valuable to me as we got Xport off the ground.

1. BBC Business Daily
Business Daily from the BBC World Service arrives six times per week, and gives a great overview of global trade, business and economic issues, but isn’t just for CEO’s of multi-nationals, in their own words this podcast ‘demystifies the world of money. From giant industries…to the smallest start-up.’ http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/bizdaily
2. The Economist: All Audio
The best choice from the Economist is their ‘All Audio’ podcast, which collates all of their individual shows into one stream. There are around 6 episodes per week covering updates on financial news, technology, a weekly preview and other topical or one-off stories.http://www.economist.com/podcasts
3. Freakonomics Radio
Presented by Stephen J. Dubner, based on the incredibly successful series of books he co-wrote, the Freakonomics Radio podcast aspires to ‘…teach us to think more creatively, rationally and productively.’ Anyone that’s able to make a convincing comparison between the Biblical King Soloman, David Lee Roth (of Van Halen) and the enduring ‘Nigerian Prince scams’ is worth 30 minutes of your time every week. http://freakonomics.com/radio/
4. The New Business Podcast
Offering ‘Startup and Small Business Marketing strategies for Entrepreneurs’ this is proving to be a useful addition to my podcast list. Released fortnightly, Chris C. Ducker talks to a new guest each episode, discussing their experience starting and growing their small business.
5. Social Media Marketing
This is the rockstar of my list, with aims to ‘help your business thrive with social media.’ There are so many ideas for how to improve your company’s performance across all social networks. Hosted by Michael Stelzner, every week features a different guest, who shines a light into another dark corner of social media , giving you tips, ideas and advice backed up with show notes and links.
It’s noticeable that there are no Finnish language shows listed above. If you know any, please let us know on our Facebook page
