My time as being an intern at Xport eventually has come to an end, and I have to say that these 2 months feel just like 2 weeks. During my internship, I got a little insight into the Finnish business working life and their particularities in Finland. I enjoyed it pretty much. The number one reason I enjoyed it so much was the international Xport team.
These people from Xport and BSTR are together an incredible team; their team-work should be an example for many companies in the world. Their group dynamic is infectious and you feel welcome right away. That’s why I want to say a special “Thanks for everything” for the Xport and BSTR team!
Before my internship started, I had no experience in the international business sector, but during the 8 weeks I was able to learn a lot about working in an international company. The first time visiting the company, I was surprised that the main language in the office is English. I never could have imagined that I would find a company in the Western Finland, which speaks mostly English. Because of that, my English skills improved greatly, and I think it will help me a lot in my future business life.
Xport started me off with my own tasks and responsibilities, rather than the typical intern tasks. Even though I was expected to work independently, I always felt that I could ask for help if I ever needed it.
I enjoyed my time at Xport because of the tremendous variety of different tasks, from translating texts for potential customers to web development. I’m really happy that Xport gave me the opportunity to improve my web development skills. It was a great experience that I was able to use my German language skills to benefit the company. I could also see the impact for the company I was making difference, for example translations.
My other tasks were to contact companies in Germany and carry out market research for several customers. Finding the right way for good searching results was sometimes a little bit tricky. But with the help from the Xport team, there was no problem that cannot be solved.
When I look back, I know I made the right decision in coming to the little city of Seinäjoki in Finland and working for Xport. It was an enriching experience, and I learned a lot about international business. I recommend these experiences highly to anyone and wish the Xport and BSTR team all the best!
