Six weeks passed quickly. A fun, informative experience is sadly coming to an end. As a guy, who had no experience of sales and marketing at all, I was worried that I would not match the requirements of the role, during this internship.
When I started to work on my first project, I had no idea where to start and where to finish it. After completing the task I had a better understanding of what Xport actually does. In addition with my increasing knowledge, the complexity of the tasks also increased. After finishing a few tasks, I realised I didn’t need to be afraid of not matching the requirements. Even though there were sometimes little language problems, because I’m not a native English speaker, the team was patient to ensure I understood what was required of me.
In the time at Xport I had many various tasks e.g. e-mail sales campaigns, translations into German, researching company information, contacting companies and setting-up products for sale on Amazon.de. I took part in some company meetings with Finnish companies as well.
My colleagues here were more like a family than just colleagues. I felt integrated since day one. They took care of well-beings of the interns and doing some evening activities with them. Furthermore the company cares about the health of the workers by offering a smart break every day.
At Xport, I’ve learned that there is a solution for every problem. You just have to think about an alternative way of solving it, or maybe just ask a colleague in order to focus your mind. In addition, I improved my English and office skills which will benefit my work in the future. Moreover, in the last week I analyzed the sales connected to my work, which was a great thing for me because I can see that my work actually benefits the company.
All in all, it was the right decision to do an internship at Xport because it was a great experience. Hopefully the Xport team enjoyed this experience as much as I did.
